September 1 Deadline for Enrolling Retired Bus Operators under Critical Shortage Law

School systems must enroll retirees hired as full-time bus operators under shortage law (La. R.S. 11:1007) by September 1. Any enrollment failing to meet the requirements of this law will be rejected and must be enrolled as a “RTW 1006” after this date.

Online Employer Transaction Report Launching 9/4/2018In addition to three separate reports, Employer Statements, Employer Charges and Payments Reports, LSERS will launch a new Employer Transaction Report on September 4. This report will combine your agency’s contribution payments, charges, prior year corrections and estimated interest transactions into one report, and track them by chronological order.

Contribution payments will be posted on the date LSERS receives payment. The contribution charges (including initial reporting and corrections) will be posted as of the last day of each month.  An ongoing balance will display after each transaction. This report will be a great help to understand your agency’s account balance and reconcile LSERS retirement contributions.

REMINDER:  Yearly Questionnaire on Privatization Due 10/1/18

All school systems must complete the LSERS privatization questionnaire for each fiscal year ending June 30. The Annual Questionnaire is now available online, and must be returned to LSERS on or before October 1, 2018 for FYE 6/30/2018.  For more about privatization, please see Fact Sheet 22 – Consequences of Privatizing LSERS Positions.

Annual Member Statements Go Out This Week

Our annual member statements will be mailed this week and will be available through LSERSWeb account access.

Quick tips if you are approached by members regarding information in their member statements:

  • The back page of the statement defines some frequently asked terminologies.
  • If member has concerns about their salary contributions or service credit, please use LSERSWeb Account History tab to verify current values.  By standard processing, salary contributions and service credit may be adjusted due to internal data audit, prior year corrections or employer certifications at any time.
